Error Saving Configuration

Attempting to execute a fresh install of 2.4.0, however I am receiving an error during 'Checking Database Configuration' at the 'Saving Configuration' step.

Failed : Trying to Add Version to DB (1366 : Incorrect integer value: '' for column 'iteration' at row 1)

All other steps succeeded.  It leaves me with a 'Edit Your Database Settings' button, but when I press that it brings me to the 'Simple Site Upgrade' page, saying that it will upgrade me from 0.0.0 to 2.4.0.  This then puts me into a nasty loop where it says no database entries were found and a button tow sitch to installer, which simply brings me back to the upgrade page.

I can delete the config.php file, but then I just start over at square one.

I believe this issue can be rectified by potentially turning strict mode off for the mysql server, but I'd rather not do that.

Any advice?

Is it possible you are running MySql v5.7.x? Exponent (currently) is not compatible with a default installation of MySql v5.7.x due to several changes in settings. The fix is to adjust the MySql .ini file found here.

Removing strict mode was a successful work around for me.

Was 'Manage Themes' removed from the management tools after logging in by any chance?  I can modify the config file manually, but haven't been able to locate it in the menus.

Many, many versions ago, it was an option within the Display tab of Site Configuration (and left there for early adopters), however it was moved to Super-Admin Tools, Extensions, Manage Themes

Because the MySql v5.7 work-around actually works, we've not spent the time to update ALL the code to become 'strict' compliant. Basically, in previous versions < v5.7.x, you could send a 'null' to a database table field when storing to signal default/no-change, but with 'strict' mode on it MUST now be populated correctly.
