Editing any settings or module content opens in the front page of the site

I have a page with a custom theme having basically index.php for all pages except the front page is frontpage.php. Now when I set it up, something goes wrong since when ever editing a module content, adjusting any settings, it opens all on the front page view, not on the index view.

How should this be debugged that would find the proper way to set it up?

Bootstrap3 carousel

I'm working to add a bootstrap 3 carousel to my theme. Is there a way to populate the slides using Exponent, rather than through the code? My boss really likes the look of the bootstrap carousel and wants me to include on our site.

How to over-ride bootstrap date/time picker

How do I properly over-ride the date/time picker that a bootstrap3 based theme uses? I tried to copy calendarcontrol.php from /framework/core/forms/controls/jquery and copy it to themes/mytheme/controls/jquery/calendarcontrol.php. However the theme is still showing the bootstrap3 base controls. I was expecting it to show the xsoft datepicker.

Responsive images and Bootstrap3

IIf I add class="img-responsive" to the image tag, I get this:

The ebay store logo is the image in question.

If I don't add the class I get this, which is how I want it to look, but want the image to responsive for phone and tablets.

Flydown with 2.3.0 - template?

Hello,
I styled a bit flydown navigation and that's ok to do via css.
How to either remove this line below or change it to a logo? (editing the code is simple once I know which tpl affects on it)

I removed that line from the tpl file showall_Flydown.bootstrap3.tpl and uploaded that my own theme (folder "modules"). But it had no effect.

Bootstrap 3 and Page Management styling

Flyout question

When I use flyout it uses the entire screen width only with Google Chrome. With Firefox it appears on only a portion of the screen. I am using 2.3.1 when this issue occurs. I also help with another site that uses 2.3.0 patch 3 that works correctly with Google Chrome. I don't recall changing anything on my 2.3.1 sites that would cause this.

Image size on mobile theme

Here is a screen shot of what my mobile theme looks like on the iPhone 5s.

For some reason the image seems to have lots of padding included on the right size. I can't find anything in the code that would do it. Any ideas?

Using New UI

On one of my sites I added the following line to the config.php file found in framework/conf/conf.php.

define("NEWUI", '1');

Then when I go to the Admin menu and hover over Super Admin tools, User Management, Site Management or About ExponentCMS, the sub menus that are supposed to appear are not showing at all. I've tried changing back to the original UI and then can see the sub menus, and then cleared all the caches. Then I switch back to NewUI and still am unable to see the sub menus. The site in question has a theme that started out as coolwater but I modified it to suit the client. The site where NewUI is working also uses coolwater in an unmodified form, except for uploading a modified header.jpg and footer.jpg.

What else can I do to get the NewUI working?

"Above/Below the fold" for news posts

What version of Exponent are you using? (v2.2.2 is the most recent)

You may insert a 'break' (shift-enter) into the text which will be included in the first para/div.

The 3 display options are full (the entire article), none (no article), and summary (which uses the smarty 'summarize' function/plugin). The function/plugin simply looks for the first para/break to split out the summary text.

Through v2.2.1 we simply did a 'text' summary to the first para/div and include the links. Then for v2.2.2+ we switched to a html summary so the images and formatting within that first section would be displayed.

Exp 2.3.0 adding viewport also for the non-responsive sites

This is fixed if we "hack" the file expTheme.php in framework/core/subsystems/
the line 264 is like this originally:
$viewport = 'width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0, user-scalable=yes';

This comes as a default if nothing has been changed.

Most of the non-responsive sites are around 1024px wide or if they are narrower this still works, so I put the default line like this:

$viewport = 'width=1024';

Now my non-responsive sites looks like before in the previous Exp from the year 2011, and the responsive layouts can be planned with better time and not with a rush when upgrading the Exp version.

After this it is of course possible to still edit the viewport settings in header info as described here in the docs:

(you can also "spy" on the Exp own bootstrap based theme how to use these settings in the header)

Of course the hack should not be needed but this should be so in the Exp that also the non-responsive sites would work and all the responsive sites can make their special settings since other way round is difficult.

Sort order by time and categories, tagging etc

Hello,
there would be an idea to build a front page for the site that it would be in the chronological order the latest updates no matter if the last update is from twitter, news module, Facebook, instagram etc. It would show always the latest 6-8 posts no matter what is the source of them.

I was wondering that if we have some kind of categories, tagging etc like "front page" in each of the different modules and then we could call all the category "front page" posts from different modules contents and sorted in an order of the appearance (time stamp).

Any ideas how to implement this in practise?

IE 8 and YUI Top Nav

I know IE8 is old but some of our customers still use old systems. We want to make our website look as best we can for them as well.

I tried adding that code, now my code looks like this:

Above/Below the fold" for news posts

I'm trying to create a list of news articles, displaying a small amount of content (sometimes a paragraph or two, sometimes an image and a couple of short paragraphs, etc) and then a "read more" that links to the full article.

I can't find a way to manually configure where the break should be. In "Display News Body in List: summary" view, the 1st < p > seems to be used (the docs for 'summarize' suggest this will be the 1st paragraph or div, but wrapping my "above the fold" content in a div doesn't seem to do anything... it still cuts off after the 1st < p > ). "Display News Body in List: full" shows all of the articles in full, which isn't quite what I was hoping for either...

Is there a good way to handle this?
